CSA Squash Individual Championship Day Two

HANOVER, N.H. - No. 10 seed sophomore Kenneth Chan lost in the quarterfinals of the CSA Squash Individual Championship Division A draw on Saturday to No. 3 Nicholas Sachvie from Cornell (11-7,11-3,12-10). Chan has played well for the Bulldogs all season, with a 17-6 record for the 2010-11 season. Chan was also instrumental in the Yale Men's No. 2 finish at the CSA Team Championship, and won every match he played in that tournament. Sachvie hails from Ontario and has represented Canada as a member of the Canadian Junior Team at the World Team Championship for the past two years, and will compete in the finals against No. 1 Todd Harrity from Princeton in the finals of the CSA Tournament on Sunday.

No. 9 seed junior Robert Berner reached the quarterfinals in the Division B draw. He won his Round of 16 Match against No. 7 Christopher Jung (11-7,11-6,11-5), but lost to No. 15 Omar Sobhy in the next round. Also in the Division B draw, No. 8 junior Ryan Dowd lost a tough five-match game against No. 10 Juan Pablo Gaviria from Rochester (10-12,12-10,8-11,13-11,11-3). Gaviria will play in the semifinals on Sunday.

This marks the end of the Yale Men's Squash 2010-11 season, which will be remembered by completing an undefeated Ivy League season, winning the Ivy Title outright, placing No. 2 at the CSA Squash Team Championships, being the only team to win four games off of the No. 1 Trinity Bantams and coming close to ending Trinity's 13 year winning streak, and having many Bulldogs succeed at the CSA Individual Championships.
