NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's squash team returns to action this weekend with its first official scrimmage of the 2011-12 season. The Bulldogs will host the all of the Ivy League teams for the two-day tournament. In the first round, Yale will take on Columbia beginning on Saturday at 12:45 at the Brady Squash Center.

Led by senior captain Ryan Dowd, the Bulldogs return the majority of their starting lineup from last season, including three of their top four spots: juniors Hywel Robinson, Kenneth Chan and Richard Dodd. Last season, the team had one of its best seasons on record after winning the Ivy Title outright and placing No. 2 at the CSA Squash Team Championships.  The next week, Chan also reached the quarterfinals of the CSA Individual Championship. The Bulldogs played an undefeated season, with the sole exception of a loss to the No. 1 Trinity Bantams. However, Yale threatened Trinity's 13-year winning streak by being the only team to win four matches against them at the National Tournament.

This year, the Bulldogs welcome the addition of three freshmen to their roster: Joseph Roberts (Belfast, Ireland), Huw Robinson (Bridgend, Wales), and Sam Shleifer (Boston, Mass.). Both Roberts and Robinson have older brothers who currently play for the Yale men's squash team as well.
