Chan Defeats Duany at No. 1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On Saturday the No. 4 Yale men's squash team defeated No. 5 Rochester in its first match at the Brady Squash Center since Nov. 30. The Bulldogs recorded wins at Nos. 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9 for a final score of 6-3.

At No. 1 Yale senior Kenneth Chan had a familiar matchup against Rochester's Andres Duany. While Duany had the edge last January at Rochester, Chan redeemed himself this time with a hard-fought 3-2 win. After taking the first game 11-6, Chan dropped the second and third games but won the last two 11-5 and 11-7.

The Bulldogs faced a well-matched opponent in the Yellowjackets, who forced four of the nine matches and two of Yale's wins to five games. Senior Hywel Robinson and junior Eric Caine, both previously unbeaten on the season, fell in five at No. 2 and No. 7, respectively. Freshman Sam Fenwick at No. 5 and junior Charlie Wyatt at No. 8 recorded the only 3-0 wins of the day.

The Bulldogs will continue their weekend at home Sunday, hosting No. 20 Bowdoin at 11 a.m.
