Cheong, McClintock Continue to Shine
NEW HAVEN, Conn —Saturday at the Brady Squash Center the No. 3-ranked Yale men's squash team defeated No. 11 Columbia 7-2 to kick off the Ivy League season. The Bulldogs move to 5-0 (1-1 Ivy) with the win.
Yale's victory can be attributed to the team's depth, a strength that head coach David Talbott has emphasized on numerous occasions. While the Bulldogs dropped matches at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots, where brothers Ramit and Rishi Tandon handed senior Neil Martin and sophomore Sam Fenwick losses in three and five games, respectively, the team swept Columbia through the rest of the lineup. Freshmen Kah Wah Cheong and Liam McClintock continued their strong play at Nos. 4 and 5, where each had won Wednesday in Yale's victory over No. 6 Franklin and Marshall. McClintock's match Saturday was the only one of Yale's seven wins to extend beyond three games.
Yale will be back in action Sunday at 12 p.m. against No. 8 Cornell. The Big Red are 3-0 on the season and defeated Columbia 5-4 on Dec. 7.
