No. 3 Bulldogs Edge No. 5 Rochester

Cheong Clinches Win

ROCHESTER, N.Y. —Saturday the third-ranked Yale men's squash team recorded a big win on the road, defeating No. 5 Rochester by a score of 6-3. The Bulldogs are now 7-0 (2-0 Ivy).

As has been the case throughout the season, Yale's win was a result of strong play at the bottom of the ladder. While the Yellowjackets claimed matches in the top three slots, Yale swept Rochester in the Nos. 4 to 9 positions. At Nos. 4, 5 and 6, it was freshmen Thomas Dembinski, Kah Wah Cheong and Liam McClintock, respectively, who each won in five long games. Cheong, whose match was eighth to finish, clinched the win for the Bulldogs.

While the rookies put the match out of reach for Rochester with their five-game battles, three veterans at the bottom of the lineup also played a crucial role. Senior Charlie Wyatt, senior captain Eric Caine and junior Joseph Roberts all won matches in straight games at Nos. 7, 8 and 9, respectively. It was Roberts's second straight win at No. 9.

With Rochester behind them, the Bulldogs now turn their attention to the nation's top team, Trinity. The Bulldogs and the Bantams face off in New Haven on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
