Yale Downs Bowdoin, 9-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - With their top two resting after a busy Saturday, the Bulldogs still dominated Bowdoin on Sunday, defeating the Polar Bears 9-0 in Yale's final tune-up before facing the No. 1-ranked Trinity Bantams on Wednesday.

With Max Samuel and Aaron Fuchs out of the lineup, some of the Elis' younger players were able to step up and provide wins for Yale. Freshmen John Fulham, Naishadh Lalwani, and Michael Maruca all took care of their opponents in three games. No. 1 Fulham downed Palmer Higgins, 9-1, 9-3, 9-1, No. 6 Lalwani beat Rahul Madan Mohan, 9-1, 9-1, 9-0, and No. 7 Maruca defeated Brooks Crowe, 9-2, 9-1, 9-1.

The Bulldog seniors also handled their opponents with relative ease. No. 3 Ho Ming Chiu beat David Funk, 3-0 (9-5, 9-7, 9-7), and No. 4 Moshe Sarfaty overcame a tight fourth-game loss to defeat Andy Bernard, 3-1 (9-7, 9-0, 8-9, 9-0).

No. 9 Sharyar Aziz had the toughest match of the day for Yale. Aziz beat Rob Stanley in an epic five-game match, 3-2 (9-5, 0-9, 9-4, 0-9, 9-4).

Up next for the Bulldogs will be the powerful Trinity Bantams on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Brady Squash Center.
