Jan. 22, 2006

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale beat Bates 9-0 Sunday afternoon at the Brady Squash Center, completing a 3-0 weekend in the Yale Round Robin. The Bulldogs won all but one match against the Bobcats in straight sets, including Julian Illingworth's victory at No. 1.

Illingworth, playing the final match of the day for the Bulldogs, was tested early on by Bates' Ricky Weisskopf. But after surrendering five points in the first match and six in the second, Illingworth came through with a 9-0 win in the third to seal the victory.

Yale's win at No. 2 from Ho Ming Chiu came when Bates' Sean Wilkinson, leading 2-1, retired due to an injury.

Yale's other scheduled match for the day, against Northwestern, was cancelled due to a conflict with Northwestern's travel plans.

The Bulldogs host No. 1 Trinity Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
