Bulldogs Fall to Crimson 7-2

Feb. 21, 2007

Cambridge, MA - Playing in their final match before the CSA Team Championships begins this Friday, the No. 5 Bulldogs lost to No. 3 Harvard 7-2 Wednesday. Junior Moshe Sarfaty and freshman Todd Ruth picked up victories at No. 5 and No. 7 for Yale in the loss.

The depth of the Crimson lineup was too much for the Bulldogs who could not overcome the team that almost beat Trinity earlier this year. Sarfaty, playing No. 5 for the second match in a row, won in three games 9-2, 9-7, 9-4. Ruth, continuing the success he has had ever since his come from behind victory in the Princeton match February 3, won in four games 9-7, 4-9, 9-6, 9-2.

Associate Head Coach Gareth Webber said Harvard's great team was too much for the Bulldogs.

"Both teams played their hearts out," Webber said. "It was tighter than what the score reflects. Their men were just too strong. We left it all out there on the courts. We put a lot of heart in."

The Bulldogs will play No. 4 Penn in the quarterfinals of the CSA Team Championships this Friday at 12:45 p.m.
