Feb. 25, 2005

Cambridge, MA - With the top of the lineup leading the way, the No. 3 ranked Bulldogs held off the University of Western Ontario's upset bid. The Elis defeated the sixth-seeded Mustangs 5-4 in the first round of the College Squash Association Team Championships at Harvard's Murr Center.

Julian Illingworth, Josh Schwartz, Nick Chirls, and Moshe Sarfaty, playing 1-4 respectively, earned victories. Illingworth, Schwartz, and Sarfaty all won 3-0, while Chirls rebounded after losing the first game to take the next three against Jeff Lurie. Max Samuel picked up the fifth victory at No. 8 with a 3-1 victory over Darrell Cole.

The Bulldogs advance to the semifinals, where they will face host and No. 2 seed Harvard. Yale seeks to avenge a 6-3 at the Cantabs' hands on Feb. 12 that gave the Crimson its second straight Ivy League Championship.
