PHILADELPHIA, PA - Yale men's squash opened its Ivy campaign with a thrilling 5-4 victory at Penn on Saturday. With the overall match tied at four apiece, captain Moshe Sarfaty beat Andrew Zimmerman by a 3-1 score to clinch the win for Yale.
At No. 9, William Hatch was able to pick up a big 3-2 win for the Elis, defeating Ryan Rayfield.
Also scoring wins for the Bulldogs were No. 2 Aaron Fuchs, who defeated Mark Froot 3-0, No. 5 Francis Johnson, who picked up a 3-1 win over Porter Drake, and No. 8 John Fulham, who beat Parker Justi, 3-1.
"Penn played really well," said head coach Dave Talbott. "We played flat in a couple spots, and they played a few guys that we didn't see at the [Ivy] Scrimmage."
"We were glad to get out of there with a win," he said. "There was a huge crowd, and it was a really tough environment."
