Bulldogs Come From Behind to Top Quakers

Dec. 3, 2005

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - With the score knotted at four, sophomore Ho Ming Chiu completed an unlikely comeback for the Elis, who defeated Pennsylvania 5-4 Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. Chiu's match went to a deciding fifth game, and the Hong Kong native sealed Yale's victory in its season opener.

Down 4-2, captain Julian Illingworth started the Bulldog charge, pulling the Elis within one of the Quakers. Senior Andrew Vinci, playing at No. 7, won his match tie the score at four apiece and set the table for Chiu.

The Bulldogs follow up their season debut later Saturday against Franklin and Marshall.
