Yale `C' Team Wins 5.5 Division US National Championships

New Haven, CT - The Yale `C' team won the 5.5 Division US National Championships Sunday over the Lake Forest Squash Club at the Brady Squash Center. Junior Bill Hatch, freshman Michael Maruca, junior Ethan Oetter, sophomore Rusty Feldman, and sophomore Chris Reid combined for a clean sweep in the finals victory.

The five Bulldogs won all five of their matches in the finals by scores of 3-0. Hatch defeated Shiraz Butt 9-0, 9-0, 9-5. Playing against Sid Singh, Maruca won 9-4, 9-5, 9-5. At the No. 3 slot, Oetter defeated Rahul Singh 9-4, 9-4, 9-2. Feldman defeated William Nau 9-5, 9-5, 9-4. At the No. 5 position, Reid defeated Marian Kraus 9-2, 9-4, 9-2.

The victory in the finals over Lake Forest came a day after the Bulldogs `C' team narrowly pulled over a victory over JC-GAB in the semifinals. Despite losing two of its matches 3-0, the team managed to win the other three to advance to the finals matchup against Lake Forest.

In the first and second round, the Yale `A' team handled both Lancaster and New Haven by dropping only one game between the two rounds.
