NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After a one-month layoff without any matches, the Bulldogs will play Amherst, Williams, Dartmouth, and Rochester this weekend to kick off the New Year.
In its only other match of the season, Yale defeated Ivy League rival Penn in convincing fashion with an 8-1 victory. Junior Aaron Fuchs dropped the lone match for the Bulldogs at No. 1. Sophomores led the way for Yale at No. 2, No. 4, No. 8, and No. 9 with John Fulham, Naishadh Lalwani, Christopher Plimpton, and Michael Maruca all coming up with victories. Junior Todd Ruth and seniors Colin Campbell and Francis Johnson also pulled out victories for the Bulldogs. Freshman John Roberts began his Yale career with a 3-0 win at No. 5 .
The Bulldogs faced Amherst, Williams, and Dartmouth last year as well. In their match against Williams, the Bulldogs pulled out an 8-1 victory. Yale defeated both Amherst and Dartmouth 9-0 last season. A scheduled match against Rochester was cancelled last season.
Ivy League Scrimmage
Yale finished second in the Ivy Scrimmage this season at Yale Nov. 8 and 9. The Bulldogs cruised to a 9-0 win over Brown in their opening match before defeating Cornell 5-4. Yale dropped its final match of the Ivy League Scrimmage to defending Ivy League champion Princeton 7-2.
