NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's swimming and diving team will swim in its last competition before the all-important Ivy League Championships in early March when they take on the Brown Bears in New Haven Saturday. The Bulldogs are coming off a tough 168-132 loss to UConn last weekend, after a strong performance at the H-Y-P meet in their last Ivy League outing.

In that meet in Storrs, Yale's freshmen continued what has been a strong debut season, led by Tyler Pramer, who earned his first career win in the 1-meter diving event. That performance was backed by Mikey Bogese, who turned in a huge win in the 1000-yard freestyle, edging senior Matt Lee, who has been a stalwart for the Elis' distance corps throughout his career. Junior Goksu Bicer and captain Kyle Veatch were strong in the sprints for first-year coach Tim Wise.

Brown, who is coming off a 160-140 win against Cornell, is also closing out its regular season Saturday. The Bears also feature some strong freshmen, led by Tommy Kelly, who had wins in the 200-yard fly and, like Bogese, in the 500-yard freestyle, setting up a great matchup. Ryan Kikuchi won three individual events for Brown in that meet against the Big Red, taking the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard IM.

The Bears and Bulldogs will close out the 2010-2011 season starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Robert J.H. Kiphuth Exhibition Pool in New Haven.
