Bulldogs Kick Off Day One of HYP Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Yale men's swimming and diving team traveled north to take on Harvard and Princeton in the annual HYP meet. The Bulldogs are currently down 146.0-40.0 against Harvard and 126.0-60.0 against Princeton but had strong performances throughout the first day of competition. 

The Bulldogs found success in the freestyle events on the first day. Kicking off the meet, Yale finished runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 'A' team – junior Ryan Huizing, junior Max Bottene, first year Michael Blank and junior Henry Gaissert – touched with a time of 1:20.26. Gaissert had another strong swim in the 50-yard freestyle with a runner-up finish at 20.00. Team captain Adrian Lin also claimed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:37.13. 

The sophomores on the team had a solid first day. In the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Tyler Harmon touched third with a time of 48.87 while sophomore Tim Dorje Wu claimed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 55.47. Sophomore Christian DeVol also touched fifth in the three-meter diving with 309.15 points.
