Jason started swimming when he was 10 years old and he started
swimming for the Northbrook Spartan Swim Club during his freshman
year in high school. An eight-time All-American, Jason was the
captain of his high school team during his senior year, and he was
the team MVP since his sophomore year. He was also a four-year
varsity letter winner. Jason's most memorable athletic experience
would be when he dropped a second and a half in 100 butterfly from
prelims to finals at the state meet during his junior year. He
ended up going a 51.16 that was good enough for third place. In
high school, Jason was a member of the National Honors Society and
the Varsity Club. He won the Most Outstanding Male Athlete Award of
his high school during his senior year and he was also a finalist
for the Outstanding Boy Award. Jason left high school with many
school and pool records. He chose Yale for its tradition of
excellence in academics and athletics and for the camaraderie and
unity of the Yale swim team. He also hopes to help continue and
contribute to the success of the swim team. Jason is the son of Tom
and Inja Choi and he is an only child. He would like to thank his
parents for the immense amount of support and encouragement they
have constantly provided him.
