Lugar Choi graduated from Northwood High School in Irvine,
California. He swam with Irvine Aquazot Swim Club for five years.
He started swimming when he was three but did not start
competitively until he was ten years old, representing Golden West
Swim Club in Huntington Beach, California. During his high school
season, he won numerous awards for his leadership and was Men's
Captain his senior year. In 2003, he anchored the last relay (200
free relay) that finished first to take the number one spot as a
team in California Intercollegiate Federation Swim competition. By
his junior year, he won 200 yard freestyle with the time of
1:40.87, which was CIF Master record. He also won 100 yard
freestyle with the time of 46.48. He currently holds the high
school record in 100, 200, 500 free, 200 medley and 400 free relay.
Lugar participated in numerous extra curricular activities
including Football and Wrestling and won the Most Valued Wrestler
in 2004. He was also an Editor for school newspaper as well as
reporter for a local newspaper.
