Junior Dave Lange was chosen captain of the Yale men's swimming and diving team for the 2004-05 season. Known to his teammates as "Dewey", Dave hails from Birmingham, Michigan and swims sprint freestyle and butterfly events. His leadership qualities have been evident since his first year on campus, and earned his election as captain for his senior year at Yale. A graduate of Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Dave was a three-time All-American at Rice and also swam for his hometown Sports Club team.
Dave's parents are both graduates of the University of Michigan. A strong student in high school, Dewey considered U of M, along with Duke and Penn State, but decided instead to follow in the path of his brother Aaron (Yale '03) and applied "early" to Yale
