Tyler graduated from Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, PA, and
he also swims for the JCC Sailfish in Pittsburgh. He was a 4 year
letter winner and a 2 year captain at Shady Side. In high school he
was a 10 time All American as well as and an Academic All American.
He won 14 District Individual Championships. Despite winning 11
PIAA state medals, he is still "upset" that he lost the 100 fly by
0.01 seconds in his senior year. A Senior National qualifier, Tyler
was the 2005 Northeast spring sectional runner up in the 200 fly.
He has been a member of the EISL conference team each of the last 3
years posting personal best of 21.15 (50 free), 49.51 (100 fly),
and 1:49.43 (200 fly). He is a Yale record holder in the 200
Freestyle relay. He is excited for his senior year. Tyler chose
Yale because of its dedication to undergraduate studies and because
of the long standing tradition of Yale swimming. He is the son of
Randy and Susan Scheid and has a brother Trevor, who is swimming in
his freshman season at Stanford and a younger sister Sarah.
