New Haven, CT - Yale defeated UConn 199-99 Saturday in its home finale. The Bulldogs won first place in 13 of the 16 events.
The Yale 200-yard medley relay `A' team got the Bulldogs off to a fast start with a first place finish in the first event of the day. Junior Alex Righi, junior Matt Sweitzer, junior Chris Pool and freshman Ege Gurdeniz combined for a time of 1:31.95 in the event.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Righi took first place with a time of 49.97. Righi also took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.41. Righi took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.37.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Seitzer and senior Colin Stalnecker finished in first and second with times of 57.41 and 58.08, respectively. Stalnecker took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.07.
Junior Tyler Scheid and Pool led the way for the Bulldogs in the 200-yard butterfly. Scheid took first place with a time of 1:50.49. Pool finished in second with a time of 1:51.25.
In the 1-meter diving, senior Jeffrey Litchenstein took first place with a score of 353.17. Litchenstein took first place in the 3-meter diving as well with a score of 367.27.
The Bulldogs swept the top three slots in the 500-yard freestyle. Matt Lee took first with a time of 4:35.87. Senior Reid Madden took second, and Byzov took third.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Pool and junior Tyler Scheid took the top two slots with times of 49.79 and 51.05, respectively.
The Bulldogs conclude their regular season next week in Providence against Brown.
