Bulldogs Wrap up Fourth Place at ECAC Championships

Pittsburgh, PA - The Bulldogs wrapped up fourth place with 353 points after three days at the ECAC Championships Sunday in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Bulldogs started off the day strong in the 1650 freestyle with third, fifth, and eighth place finishes. Junior Paolo Benvenuto earned Yale 16 points with his third place finish in a time of 15:57.16. Freshman Jerrold Lee took fifth place in a time of 16:13.78 to win the Bulldogs 14 points. Senior Reid Madden won eighth place to gain 11 points for Yale with a time of 16:23.40.
In the 200-yard backstroke, sophomore Colin McCarthy finished third place in 1:151.28 to earn Yale 16 points. Freshman Alex Gornitzky took fifth place in the race to win 14 points for the Bulldogs. Freshman Jason Choi wrapped up the race for Yale with 5 points in a 12th place finish.
In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Lugar Choi took fourth place in a time of 46.56 to earn 15 points.
Freshman Sam Goldsmith took 11th place in 2:09.51 to earn 6 points for the Bulldogs in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Benenuto took sixth place in 1:53.54 to win the Bulldogs 13 points. Madden finished in eight place in the race to take 11 points for Yale. Jerrold Lee, Nick Van Nispen, and Connor Murphy also earned points for the Bulldogs in the race with 11th, 14th, and 16th place finishes, respectively.
The Bulldogs concluded the ECAC Championships with a fourth place finish in the 400-yard freestyle. Senior Gjorgji Gjeorgjievski, sophomore Jonathan Taylor, McCarthy and Lugar Choi combined for a time of 3:09.06 to take 30 points for the Bulldogs.
