Righi Just Misses Record; Elis 4th After Day One of Terrapin Cup

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Yale is in fourth place with 170 points after the first day of action at Maryland's Terrapin Cup Invitational. West Virginia leads with 268 points. The Bulldogs were led by a first-place finish from Alex Righi in the 50-yard freestyle. Righi's time in the finals (19.83) was just .01 off his own Yale record.

Jeff Lichtenstein added a first-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition (273.40). Yale also had a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (3:21.41) from the team of Righi, Colin Stalnecker, Chris Pool and Andrew Foss.

Foss added a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.38)

The Bulldogs got a fourth-place finish (1:22.99) from their top team in the 200-yard freestyle relay, including Righi, Pool, Dan Li and Tyler Scheid.

The three-day invitational continues on Friday with Prelims starting at 10:00 a.m.
