Chapel Hill, NC - The Bulldogs completed day two at the Nike Cup Invitational in fifth place with 229 points Friday in Chapel Hill. Sophomore Alex Righi once again came up big for the Bulldogs with another first place finish in a race.
For the second consecutive day, Righi finished first place in a race. Righi earned the Bulldogs 20 points with a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.15.
Righi also was part of the 200-medley relay team along with junior Matt Sweitzer, junior Chris Pool and freshman Kyle Veatch, that finished 6th and earned 26 points for Yale. The Yale `B' team, led by sophomore Tom Robinson, senior Colin Stalnecker, junior Tyler Scheid, and freshman Lugar Choi earned 6 points with a 14th place finish.
Junior Denne McCloske earned 11 points for Yale with an 8th place finish in the 400 IM finals. McElroy finished 11 and received 6 points for the Bulldogs in this race. Senior Billy Rubenstein finished in 12th behind McElroy and earned Yale 5 points.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Pool finished 10th place for 7 points for Yale. Also competing in this race, Righi finished in 13th for 4 points.
Choi earned Yale 2 points with a 15th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Sweitzer finished in 11th place for 6 points. Also competing in this race, senior Colin Stalnecke and sophomore Craig Steen earned 3 and 1 point, respectively.
The Bulldogs capped the day with a 9th place finish in the 800 free relay. Junior Sebastian Cousins, Veatch, Righi, and Choi earned 18 points with a time of 6:52.73.
