Chapel Hill, NC - The Bulldogs finished fifth place in the Nike Cup Invitational with 340 points Saturday in Chapel Hill, NC. Junior Alex Righi had his third first place in the tournaments three days with a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle Saturday.
Righi earned the Bulldogs 20 points with a time of 43.31 in the 100-yard freestyle. The time was a Nike Cup Invitational record.
Righi also competed with the Yale `A' 400-yard freestyle team, which finished 7th place to earn Yale 24 points. Freshman Kyle Veatch, Righi, junior Chris Pool, and sophomore Tom Robinson combined for a time of 3:03.88.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Robinson finished 9th place to earn 9 points. Robinson had a time of 1:51.75.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, the Bulldogs had three point-earners. Senior Colin Stalnecker placed in 10th for 7 points, junior Kyle McElroy finished in 11th for 6 points, and sophomore Craig Steen earned 4 points with a 13th place finish.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Pool finished in 8th place to earn Yale 11 points. Jnior Tyler Scheid placed 10th in this race to earn the Bulldogs 7 points.
