Bulldogs Currently Sit In Fifth at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - The Bulldog men's swimming and diving team opened the invitational season with a strong performances at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University. The team, which sits in fifth place with 95 points, sent ten swimmers to the event and will continue competition and seek to increase their point total on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bulldogs, who did not compete in any of the diving events, started the day off with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of freshman Patrick Puhl and sophomores Zak Murez, Alex Gornitzky and Sam Goldsmith earned the Bulldogs 30 points with a time of 1:29.16.
Ilya Byzov next led the team in the 500-yard freestyle. Byzov, who specializes in the distance events, placed fifth with a time of 4:42.56. Byzov earned the team 14 points in his performance.
The Bulldogs next swam in the 200-yard individual medley. The Bulldogs started off with a 13th place performance by Murez in a time of 2:01.02. Gornitztky followed with a 2:02.30 performance while junior Colin McCarthy placed 19th in 1:59.92.
Goldsmith followed with an 18th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.65 while Puhl swam to a time of 24.99.
The Bulldogs finished off the day with an eighth in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:40.21.
The Bulldogs will look to move up in the rankings on Saturday and Sunday.
