Men's Team Finishes 6th at Terrapin Cup; Veazey Wins 200 Butterfly

With 327 overall points, the men's swim team finished sixth overall at the Terrapin Cup Invitational at Maryland. Jimmy Veazey won the 200 fly and finished fourth in the 100 fly, while Jack Cooney and Alex Nash also posted top finishes.

In the individual medley events, Jack Cooney finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.39. Alex Nash and Matt Bowman earned 14th and 16th places in the event. In the 400, Matt Aldrich and Jeff Kelsey finished 10th and 11th, while Cole Heggi swam to 14th place.

After winning the preliminary heat in the 200 fly, Veazey was again the winner of the race with a time of 1:50.47 for Yale's best finish of the day. In the 100 Veazey earned fourth place with a time of 50.30.

Cooney and Nash posted strong finishes in the backstroke events. Cooney finished fifth in the 100 back and fourth in the 200, while Nash, the team's captain, was right behind him with 6th and 5th place standings.

In breakstroke, Tom Hardy and Joe Mack earned 13th and 14th places with times of 2:12.00 and 2:12.26.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Cooney, Bowman, Veazey, and Quinn Fitzgerald earned 4th place with a time of 3:04.61. In the individual 200 free, Andy Foss came in 7th overall with a time of 1:43.26, while Cooney came in 11th place.

The Bulldogs host Maine on Monday in New Haven at 12:00 noon.
