Three Bulldogs to Compete in Olympic Trials

OMAHA, Neb. - Three Bulldogs will compete at the Olympic Trials between June 29 and July 6 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. Alex Righi, Chris Pool, and rising freshman Emily Dominski will all compete for a chance to represent the United States at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Righi will compete in three events. On Monday June 30, Righi will compete in the 100-meter backstroke. He is seeded No. 16 in that event with a seed time of 55.58 seconds. On Wednesday July 2, Righi will compete in the 100-meter freestyle. He is seeded No. 23 in that event with a seed time of 49.99 seconds. On Friday July 4, Righi will race in the 50-meter freestyle. Righi is seeded No. 13 in that event with a seed time of 22.70 seconds. All three events carry over into the next day if Righi advances to the finals.

Pool will compete in two events at the Trials. On Tuesday July 1, Pool will compete in the 200-meter butterfly where he is seed No. 76 with a seed time of 2:03.55. Pool will also compete in the 100-meter butterfly on Friday, July 4. He is seeded No. 71 with a seed time of 55.25 in the event.

Dominski will also compete in two events. She will race in the 100-meter freestyle on Thursday, July 3. Dominski is seeded No. 44 in the event with a seed time of 1:03.61. Dominski will also compete in the 50-meter freestyle on Saturday, July 5. She is seeded No. 75 in that event with a seed time of 26.30 seconds.

The top two swimmers in each event, along with the top six swimmers in the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle, will earn a trip to Beijing to compete in the Olympics.
