NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs will host the Yale Invitational this weekend. The tournament will consist of three singles flights and three doubles flights, and players from eight different schools.
Yale has four players competing in the ‘A’ singles flight. Senior Connor Dawson, junior Calvin Bennett, and freshmen Marc Powers and John Huang will play in the top singles flight.
In the ‘B’ singles flight, Yale will have sophomore Erik Blumenkranz, freshman Daniel Hoffman and sophomore Joel Samaha compete.
Junior Ryan Berman, junior Jordan Abetrgel, and senior Matt Schimmel will compete for Yale in the ‘C’ singles flight.
Bennett and Samaha will compete for the Bulldogs in the ‘A’ doubles flight. The doubles team of Dawson and Powers and the duo of Blumenkranz and Hoffman will play in the ‘B’ doubles flight. The team of Schimmel and Berman and the team of Huang and Abergel will compete in the ‘C’ doubles flight.
Alex Dorato, the Cary Leeds Head Coach of Men’s Tennis, said he has high expectations for the team this weekend.
“I am very excited about this weekend’s tournament,” Dorato said. “We’ll get to see where we stand against some strong competition. We’ve been playing very well in practice, and we’ve been working hard on our doubles. I think we are going to see some spectacular results and some surprise finishes.”
