New Haven, Conn. – Senior Jordan Abergel lost a close three-set match to Sacred Heart's Karill Kasyanov 4-6, 6-2, 10-1 in Sunday's final of the 2010 Connecticut State Championships.
The all-Yale semifinal between Abergel and junior Joel Samaha ended on a disappointing note when Samaha was forced to retire midway through the second set with the score 2-6, 5-4.
In the doubles final, Fairfield's Erik Kremheller and Joe Michalisin defeated Quinnipiac's Brian Mikkelson and Andrew Weeden 8-5.
Weeden was awarded the tournament's Sportsmanship Award. Complete tournament draws can be found here.
The tournament wrapped up the fall season for the Bulldogs, who will return to match play in January with the beginning of the spring schedule.
