Hagermoser and Lu Notch Wins on Final Day

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Yale men's tennis team wrapped up its participation in the Ivy Plus Invitational on Sunday.  Playing at Princeton's Lenz Tennis Center, several Elis took to the court for non-bracketed singles and doubles matches.  Two Bulldogs posted victories.

Non-bracketed play began on Saturday, with senior captain Zachary Krumholz and senior Daniel Faierman competing.  Both lost their matches, however, to Billy Pecor of Notre Dame and Lefteris Theodorou of Iowa, respectively.

Non-bracketed matches continued on Sunday.  The two Bulldogs who stood out with their performances in the fall of 2013, sophomore Tyler Lu and his classmate, Alex Hagermoser, once again are already performing at a high level.  Lu gained a significant 6-1, 7-6 victory over Cornell senior Sam Fleck, while Hagermoser upended Cornell's Andrew Dykeman 6-3, 6-3.  The two sophomores will be sure to draw confidence from getting the better of their fellow Ivy League competitors.  Krumholz and sophomore Photos Photiades also played singles matches on Sunday, with both falling in straight sets.

Krumholz and Photiades paired together for doubles, along with the team of Hagermoser and senior Matt Saiontz and the freshman duo of Fedor Andrienko and Ziqi Wang.  While all three teams lost their matches, they will be sure to use their experiences going forward in the season.

Full results from Yale's non-bracketed singles and doubles matches can be found below.

The Bulldogs will now prepare for the upcoming Penn Classic, which takes place at Penn's home courts starting Sept. 26.
