No. 84 Lu Comes Up Short Against No. 97 David Biosca
TULSA, Okla. – Monday at the 2014 Saint Francis Health System Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships saw the start of qualifying draw matches. Taking part in the action at Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center was sophomore Tyler Lu, who played his opening singles qualifying match. After two sets of well-played tennis, Lu was eliminated from the tournament.
Lu had received a qualifying draw selection from the ITA by virtue of his preseason national ranking of No. 84. In first round action on Monday he took on East Tennessee's David Biosca, ranked No. 97 in the country. Biosca narrowly won a tight first set in a tiebreaker, and ultimately came away with the 7-6(2), 6-1 victory.
Lu will now rejoin his teammates as the Bulldogs prepare for the upcoming Yale Shootout. The Elis host Army, Boston College and St. Bonaventure beginning Saturday.
