King and Lu Exit in the Third Round of Qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships
TULSA, OK – The two players representing the Yale men's tennis team in the qualifying draw of this year's ITA All-American Championships, Dylan King and Tyler Lu, were forced to head home on Tuesday after a mixed day in Tulsa. While King withdrew from his scheduled match against Richmond's Jacob Dunbar due to the flu, Lu played a full third round match; his match against USC's Brandon Holt ended as a 6-2, 6-2 win for the Trojan. Lu did well to hang with Holt, a tough competitor who later in the day went on to win his respective qualifying draw and qualify for main draw competition.
On the whole, both Elis performed well this past weekend to notch a combined 6-1 singles record. This success is particularly impressive considering the quality of their opposition – the ITA All-American Championships is one of the premier events in NCAA Division 1 tennis, and draws the best collegiate players in the nation. The Bulldogs will next travel as a team this Friday, as they gear up for the annual Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover.
