Mike continued his move up the ladder last season in both singles and doubles. This year he alternated with Jeff Dawson in the #1 & #2 singles spot. In doubles he teamed with Connor Dawson and played primarily in the #2 doubles slot.
In singles, Mike picked up a couple of key Ivy League victories for the Bulldogs. He clinched the team match in Yale's 4-3 victory against Cornell with a 7-5 third set win at #2 singles. Against Harvard he fought off two match points in his come-from-behind win at #1 singles. Mike's efforts earned him Second Team All-Ivy Singles Honors, and a year-end rank of #23 in the Northeast Region.
Mike had a tremendous sophomore moving up to the #2 slot (from #4 freshman year) and leading the team with 23 singles victories and 22 doubles wins. He went 6-1 during the Ivy League season, earned First Team All-Ivy Singles honors, and finished #15 in the Northeast in the year end rankings. In doubles he posted an impressive 8-3 mark while playing in the #3 slot with Connor Dawson. Mike received the George A. Phelps Memorial Award as the team's most improved player.
Mike had a solid freshman campaign going 18-18 in singles and 12-12 in doubles. That year he played in the top 4 in singles in every dual match and played primarily in the #2 doubles position with two-time Ivy League Player of the Year Brandon Wai.
Prior to Yale, Mike won the Southern California Junior Doubles Championship in 2004 and finishing that year ranked #74 in the country in singles in the 18 & under division. He has won numerous sportsmanship awards throughout his junior career. He is a graduate of La Costa High School.
