West Point, NY - Yale (1-2) picked up its first victory of the season by shutting out Army (1-2) 7-0 today at West Point. The Bulldogs only dropped one set in the victory.
No. 1 Brandon Wai, No. 2 Michael Caldwell, No. 3 Jeff Dawson, No. 5 Matt Schimmel and No. 6 Josh Lederman all picked up straight set victories in their matches. Rory Green picked up a three set victory at No. 4 singles.
The Bulldogs won the doubles point as they swept all three matches. No. 1 Green and Wai, No. 2 Dawson and Lederman and No. 3 Caldwell and Chris Lawler all bounced back from early deficits to win their matches.
Cary Leeds Head Coach of Men's Tennis Alex Dorato was very pleased with the all-around performance of the team in the victory.
"They are a good team and we beat them on the road," Dorato said. "In singles we only dropped one set. Everyone is playing very well and on top of thier game. That gives us a lot of confidence."
The Bulldogs are back in action Sunday February 25 against both Navy and Connecticut at home.
