NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's tennis team took four of the six singles matches to open Ivy League play with a 4-3 win over No. 61 Penn on Friday afternoon.
It was the Bulldogs' second straight win and their fourth straight at home. Yale is now 4-1 at home this spring. Four of the team's last five matches, two wins and two losses, have been decided by a 4-3 score.
The Bulldogs turned it on in singles play, as 78th-ranked Wai won easily at No. 1 and Yale took the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 matches. Milosz Gudzowski took a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4, and Rory Green won two tight sets, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5.
Rowan Reynolds lost the first set at No. 3, 6-4, but came back to win the second by the same score and dominate in the third, 6-1.
The Bulldogs continue their homestand Saturday against Princeton.
