New Haven, CT- The men's tennis team faced a fierce battle against Princeton Saturday afternoon. Yale won at No.1, 2 and 4 singles, but could not clinch the win, losing to Princeton 4-3. The Elis now have a 5-10 overall record and a 1-1 record in Ivy play.
Princeton claimed the doubles point. Yale's Milosz Gudzowski and Rory Green won the No. 3 match 9-8, but Princeton came back strong to claim the No. 2 and No. 1 matches. Brandon Wai and Ryan Murphy put up an intense fight for the No. 1 spot, but were defeated in a tiebreaker by the Tigers 9-8.
In singles action, No. 78 Wai won in straight sets to claim the No. 1 spot 6-4, 6-4. Murphy also won in straight sets for the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-2. Gudzowski, fueled by his doubles win, also dominated in singles action, winning the No. 4 spot 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.
The Bulldogs will travel to Columbia University to continue Ivy play on Friday, Apr. 15.
