Bulldogs Crush Bonnies In Round One Of ECACs

NEW YORK, NY - Yale opened up the ECAC Championships this weekend in style, crushing St. Bonaventure 7-0 on Friday. The Bulldogs swept all three doubles matches, while winning all six singles matches against the Bonnies.

Brandon Wai returned to play No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs and won easily, 6-2, 6-1. Michael Caldwell eked out a close second set victory to win 6-4, 7-6 in the No. 2 slot, and Jeff Dawson continued his strong fall play with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3.

Rory Green also returned to the lineup, at No. 4, and contributed with a 6-3, 6-0 win. Josh Lederman won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 and Matt Schimmel rounded out the Bulldog singles victories with a 6-1, 6-1 win.

Wai and Green teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles, and Jeff Dawson and Lederman won a close 9-8 match at No. 2. Caldwell and Chris Lawler polished off their opponents 8-4 in the No. 3 slot.

Yale, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, will face off with No. 5 Columbia, who defeated St. John's today, tomorrow at 8 a.m.
