Ryan Murphy and Brandon Wai Advance to Third Round of ITA Championships

With a 6-4, 6-2 victory over St. Bonaventure's Nikhil Murali, 11-seed Ryan Murphy advanced to the third round of the Omni Hotels ITA Championships. Teammate Brandon Wai also won his second round match, defeating St. Bonaventure's Alejandro Nery 6-4, 6-1 to move on.

In the consolation bracket, Milosz Gudzowski defeated Stony Brook's Tal Meir, 6-2, 6-1 to move into the consolation quarterfinals.

In other action, the 14-seed doubles pair of Murphy and Wai fell in an 8-6 match to Princeton, while the duo of Rowan Reynolds and Chris Lawler fell to Martin Wetzel and Cliff Nyugen from Harvard, 8-3 after winning a tight 9-8(6) match against Virginia Tech.

Matt Feldman dropped a second-round match to Penn State's No. 6 seed Malcolm Scatliffe, 6-2, 6-4.

Murphy will face Army's John Houghton in the third round, after Houghton defeated Harvard's Chris Chiou in three sets after dropping the first. Wai will compete against No. 9 seed Soren Spanner from Virginia Tech.
