Bulldogs Finish Up Play At ITAs

Oct. 22, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Bulldogs finished up their weekend at the ITA Regionals on Sunday, with two players advancing to the round of 16. Brandon Wai and Michael Caldwell each won their first matches of the day before falling to players from Penn State.

Wai beat Harvard's Scott Denenberg 6-3, 6-2 in his first match, but fell to PSU's Brendan Lynch in his Round of 16 match, 7-6, 7-5.

Caldwell also got off to a hot start Sunday, beating Princeton's No. 1 player, Peter Capkovic, in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. However, Lynch's teammate Michael James got the better of Caldwell, beating him 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to send the Bulldogs home.

"We certainly had some good results," Cary Leeds Head Coach Alex Dorato said of the weekend. "Michael played great, and Jeff Dawson played the best he has all fall."

The Bulldogs, having completed their fall season, are now off until January 26, when they travel to New York to compete in the Columbia Invitational.
