Hanover, NH - The Yale men's tennis team had an outstanding day of play at the ITA Northeastern Regional hosted by Dartmouth. Brandon Wai '07, Mike Caldwell `09, Milosz Gudzowski '06 and Rowan Reynolds '06 easily defeated their opponents in straight sets to advance to round of 16. In doubles play, Wai and Josh Lederman `09 won their match to advance to the quarterfinals.
In singles action, No. 1 seed Wai slammed opponent Luke Tedaldi of Brown. Wai won the match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Caldwell also won in straight sets, beating No. 31 seed Jeff Schechtman of Dartmouth 7-5, 6-4. No. 23 seed Gudzowski won his match against Raj Shrestha of Dartmouth 7-5, 7-6(3). Reynolds totally shattered any hopes No. 20 seed Mark Clemente had of seeing any action in the next round. Reynolds won the match 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles action, Wai and Lederman won their match against Barrett Wolfe and Jared Kobren of Boston University to advance to the quarterfinals. Wai and Lederman won the match 8-6. Reynolds and Rory Green `08 lost to Malcolm Scatliffe and Michael Jemes of Penn State, 8-5.
The Bulldogs continue play tomorrow, Oct. 23.
