Princeton, NJ - After winning five out of their first six matches in the tournament, the Bulldogs struggled to find much more success at the ITA Regional Championships in Princeton during the weekend of October 19, 20, and 21.
Juniors Jeff Dawson and Josh Lederman advanced to the round of 16 with two victories in the tournament. Dawson and Lederman defeated Angelo Sica Jr. and Matt Wierzel of Holy Cross in the first round 8-1. In the second round, Dawson and Lederman upset No. 3 see Eddie Bourchier and James Dwyer of Penn State 9-7. Dawson and Lederman came up short against Harvard's Chris Clayton and Will Guzick in the round of 16 though, losing 8-5.
Seeded No. 11, junior Michael Caldwell and sophomore Connor Dawson lost to Robert Ferrante and Ryan Berthod 8-6 in the first round. After winning their first match 8-4, freshman Calvin Bennett and senior Rory Green dropped an 8-6 match to No. 13 seed Mark Brodie and Daniel Freeman of Dartmouth in the second round.
In singles action, Connor Dawson lost to No. 1 seed Michael James of Penn State in the second round 6-2, 6-1. Dawson won his previous match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 over Justin Chow. After a bye in the first round, No. 17 seed Jeff Dawson defeated Adam Schwartz of Penn 7-6 (40, 6-4 in the round of 64 before falling to No. 10 seed George Carpeni of Princeton.
Green came away with a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the first round before losing to No. 27 seed Leo Mochizuki of St. Bonaventure 6-3, 6-3. After winning his first round match 6-2, 6-4, Calvin Bennett lost to the No. 9 seed Dan Nguyen 6-2, 6-2 in the next round.
