NEW HAVEN, Conn.--The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released its final men's rankings for the 2006-07 season, and Yale finished the year ranked No. 7 in the Northeast Region. In addition, three Bulldogs achieved individual rankings. Senior Brandon Wai ranked No. 3 in singles and teamed with junior Rory Green for the No. 7 ranking in doubles. Sophomore Michael Caldwell earned a final singles ranking of No. 15 in the region.
Wai, the team captain, became the first player in nearly 20 years to win Ivy League Player of the Year honors in consecutive seasons. He also earned his third straight first team All-Ivy nod after going 6-1 in conference play at No. 1 singles. The San Diego, Calif., native went 13-1 in conference matches over his final two seasons at Yale.
Wai and Green, the incoming team captain and a Dublin, Ireland, native, were named second team All-Ivy in doubles. The pair went 5-2 in the Ivy League at No. 1 doubles.
A native of Encinitas, Calif., Caldwell also earned first-team All-Ivy honors in singles. Playing behind Wai at No. 2 singles, he finished 6-1 in Ivy League matches and 23-13 overall.
