Schedule for 2009-10 Season Released
Bulldogs to See Plenty of Ivy League Action
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 2009-10 schedule for the men's track and field team has been released. As in previous years, the indoor season kicks off with the Lidlifter Invitational at Yale's Coxe Cage on Dec. 5.
After a winter recess, the Bulldogs return to Coxe Cage to host the College Invitational on Jan. 9. The annual Giegengack Invitational, which attracts many schools from the Northeast, will also be at home from Feb. 6-7. The meet is named after legendary Yale coach Bob Giegengack, who led the Bulldogs to 183 wins over his 29-year career. Last year, the Bulldogs won a thrilling 4 x 400-meter race in 3:17.49, only three seconds off the meet record. Crowds should enjoy the excitement on the Frank Shorter '69 track during this indoor season well.
Entering into the post-season of indoor track, the Bulldogs will travel to Dartmouth for the Heptagonal Championships, at which they placed fourth last year.
The Bulldogs will see even more action against fellow Ivy League schools in the outdoor season. First, the Bulldogs will train at a weeklong camp at the College of William and Mary before competing at the William and Mary Spring Break Invitational in Williamsburg, Va. on Mar. 20. Next, the Bulldogs compete at the Princeton Invitational, the Brown Invitational, and the nationally acclaimed Penn Relays. Fans should also be sure not to miss out on the rivalry dual meet against Harvard at home on the Dewitt-Cuyler Track on Apr. 17.
In post-season, the Bulldogs return to Princeton, N.J., both for the Heptagonal Championships and the IC4A Championships in May before competing in the NCAA Regional Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
