Bulldogs Prepare for NCAA Regional
Six Athletes to Represent Yale
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – While the season has ended for most of the Bulldogs, several athletes are staying on to train for the NCAA Division I East Regional Championships on May 27-29. The meet, hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C., will feature more than 200 schools east of the Mississippi and 2,500 athletes vying to qualify for NCAA Nationals.
Senior Chris Labosky looks ready for a big performance in the 800-meter run after running a PR of 1:48.25 at IC4As, earning him All-East honors for his fifth-place finish. His time is the 14th fastest in the region and No. 1 all-time for Yale outdoor. Senior Alex Harris and junior Matt Bogdan also qualified for the 3,000-meter steeplechase; Harris is also coming off of a PR from IC4As.
Junior Marty Evans will race the 200-meter dash after competing at IC4As last weekend. Evans ran a PR of 21.03 at outdoors Heptagonals Championships, which holds the No. 4 all-time spot for Yale outdoor.
In the field events, senior Eric DePalo and freshman Mike Levine will represent the Bulldogs. DePalo, who qualified in the pole vault, finished in the top eight at IC4As to earn All-East honors, while Levine has the 19th best mark in the region for the discus throw (54.41m).
Thursday's competition will include the finals of the pole vault at 4:00 p.m. and the first round of the 800-meter run at 7:30 p.m. A complete schedule can be found here. Results will be posted on Yalebulldogs.com after the meet. The East Regional is one of two regional meets to qualify for the NCAA National Championships on June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. The top 12 finishers in each event automatically qualify for nationals.
