Levine, Richards Awarded All-East Honors
Combine for Seven Points at IC4As
PRINCETON, N.J. – Following their impressive outings at the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) Championships over the weekend, junior Mike Levine and senior Nathan Richards were named to the All-East team. The pair led the Elis to a 34th-place finish by combining for seven total points.
Levine, a two-time Ivy League champion in the discus throw, scored six of those points by taking third in that event (52.63m – 172'08"), the same finish he had last year. His personal record of 54.79m (178'06") ranks third on Yale's all-time charts, and his best mark in the hammer throw (58.71m – 192'07") is second.
Meanwhile, Richards picked up a point for his eighth-place result in the 3000-meter steeplechase. His time of 9:04.58 was a season best, while his PR of 8:54.15 is the fourth-fastest in Yale history. He also captained the cross country team last season.
Levine and Richards will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. in two weeks to compete at the NCAA East Regional, qualifying in the same events in which they competed at IC4As. Both have been to Regionals before (twice for Levine), and now will have another shot to make it to the national meet in Des Moines, Iowa.
