NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's track and field team will host the Mark Young Invitational this Saturday at the Dewitt Cuyler Athletic Complex. After splitting the team between the Raleigh Relays and the Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational last weekend, the Bulldogs will come together on their home track for their first of four home meets this outdoor season.
Several of the Bulldogs' jumpers who competed last weekend will look to make a splash at home this weekend as well. Sophomore Austin Laut will compete in the pole vault, looking for his first top finish of the outdoor season. Watch for sophomore Jimmy Shih in both the long jump and triple jump and freshman Spencer O'Neill in the high jump. Sophomores Cody Clements and CJ McCord, as well as junior Mike Koller, will make their outdoor season debuts in the high jump.
This meet will see the Bulldogs' throwers make some of their first appearances of the outdoor season in events across the board. Junior Jake Hoops will compete in the shot put for the first time this season. Sophomore Marcus Downs, who placed ninth in the discus throw last weekend, will throw in that event and the hammer throw on Saturday.
The Bulldogs will rest many of their track athletes, particularly those who traveled last weekend. Senior Austin Puleo will run in the 400-meter dash. He will be joined by seniors Torren Peebles and Denzell Jobson and freshman Jonathan Ascher in the 4x400-meter relay. Peebles and Jobson will also race the 200-meter dash for the first time during the outdoor season.
Field events will begin at 11:00 am, and track events at 12:00 pm. The full schedule of events for this weekend is available here, and results will be posted on coolrunning.com following the meet. A complete recap will be posted following the meet.
