SWARTHMORE, PA. - Senior James Randon broke his own Yale record in the 1500-meter run at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier at Swarthmore College yesterday, running a blistering 3:37.93 in the event. His mark breaks the previous record, which he set last season, by over two seconds.
Randon's mark is the third-fastest all time in the Ivy League. It is also the third-fastest in the NCAA this season, and easily qualifies him for competition in the NCAA East Preliminaries next weekend. A full list of qualifiers for the NCAA East Prelims will be available later today.
