A part-time assistant coach, Hescock was a full-time assistant for the Bulldog men's program from 1968 to 1980. Hescock, a field-events specialist, also served as an assistant coach for eight years at Dartmouth and for one season at Columbia. A New England high school high jump champion, he was the 1954 indoor and outdoor IC4A pole vault champion at Boston University, from which he graduated in 1955. Hescock, who served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot and was the academy's high jump champion, is a four-time National Masters Decathlon champion and American record holder in the event. Hescock has developed several Heptagonal throwing Champions, notably record holders Diane Potkay, Melanie Harris, Tom Neville, Kent Womack as well as Heptagonal's Champions Michelle Stroube and Trudy Taylor.
