Bulldogs Finish Fifth at Long Beach Classic

Long Beach, CA - Jihad Beauchman won the high jump and placed second in the triple jump at the Long Beach Classic Saturday, helping Yale to a fifth-place finish (123 pts.). Yale also got a win from Dan O'Brien in the 110m hurdles and from the 4x100m relay team.

Beauchman (2.10m) bested Kent Centers of UCSB (2.00m) in the high jump, and finished behind Rayon Taylor of Cornell (15.16m to 14.56m) in the triple jump. O'Brien finished the 110m hurdles in 15.32 to beat the Big Red's Aaron Merrill (15.52). The Bulldogs' 4x100m relay team also beat Cornell, finishing in 41.87 to the Big Red's 42.33. Yale's 4x400m relay team finished just behind Cornell, 3:15.42 to 3:16.07.

Yale also got top-three finishes in the 100m dash, with Russell Kempf second (11.12) and Victor Cheng third (11.15).

Yale returns to action at the Raleigh Relays next weekend.
