NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Elis scored 109 points to take second place behind Army (156) Saturday afternoon at the 2006 SCSU Invite on Southern Connecticut State University's Jess Dow Field.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Victor Cheng, Kevin Alexander, Dan O'Brien and Russell Kempf won with a time of 41.35, almost .5 faster than second place SCSU (41.83). O'Brien later came back to win the 110-meter hurdles in 14.80, while Cheng won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.42. Alexander was also second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.63.
Other winners included Jihad Beauchman in the triple jump (14.49 meters) and John Langhauser in the hammer throw (50.50 meters), barely edging out Nicholas Carr of Holy Cross (50.49 meters). Langhauser was also third in the shot put with a toss of 16.83 meters, good enough for fourth farthest in school history.
